Lebensraum (Living Space) 
 A slogan of German expansionism, which was used already before World War I to justify the desire for colonial empire. After the war it expressed the demand for the return of the territories taken from Germany in the Versailles Treaty. Hitler used the slogan to claim Germany's expansion into neighbouring zones because it is overpopulated.
